UX & Design Projects

In school I worked on several application, website, product, and other interface design projects.
These ranged from group to individual projects, however, the thing they all have in common is my desire
to put the needs and opinions of users first.

Luminoise

2016

Concept Statement: To create a new language and connect bridges: To translate music into color for the deaf and color to music for the blind. By studying synesthesia and how people view the connections between sound and color we hope to build a system that allows people to experience art in a new way. This project focused on the information architecture of the application, instead of only on the look or concept of the application. Understanding the internal structure and how things were organized, structured, and simplified, as well as how to make the best UI or service design was the goal.

The Poison Apple

2016

Concept: The poison apple from Snow White sitting on top of a book.
The apple is painted red with a wooden stem on the top and clay that is painted over with grey paint to give it a glossy look. The book is made from a book box that is covered with faux leather and has a hole in the top for the apple to fit on to, so that the wires, Arduino, and battery can all be hidden within the book. The lighting changes between red and green in sequence to give a pulsing, and mysterious aura with the red representing enticement and the green representing the hidden poison inside.

Starbucks: Discover Your Teavana

2016

Designed and produced a model and branding strategy for a new Starbucks location in Seoul, Korea. Building design and interior were inspired by Korean traditional houses and the concept was based on expanding the Teavana brand in Seoul by appealing to both Korean and Western tea house traditions.

Senior Project: S'World

2016

Designed a card game over the course of eight months that can be played cooperatively or competitively by creating a world based on Korean lore. Personally designed the interface, drew and created the cards and game manual, and finally visualized my idea an exhibition in Seoul and presented it to the public. S’world is a card game based on apothecaries and potion making that can be played competitively or cooperatively. Collect the plants you need in order to complete quests given by locals in order to save the land of Neriterra before time runs out.

Smarty Plants - The Plant That Talks Back

2016

Prototype for an interactive plant care and moisture monitor pot that says sarcastic phrases depending on the level of care it’s receiving using Arduino. The pot was custom made using a laser cutter, including the decorations on the pot.

Brelli Box: Eco-Friendly Umbrella Dryer

2016

Brelli Box is a reusable and eco-friendly umbrella dryer concept designed as a team project to replace the current plastic umbrella bag system in South Korea. Contributions to the project included user research, scenario making, usability testing, business model creation, fabrication, and public presentations and documentation. Participated in the Incheon Design Fair and awarded Audience Choice at Capstone Gala.

Buddy Wall

2015

Conducted user research, cultural probes, and made personas. Afterwards an interactive project was created to meet the needs of the users. This let to the Buddy Wall and the Buddy Cube concept, a virtual pet that can be found in public transport and inside an application.

MONY: Enjoy Finance!

2015

IoT project that began with choosing target users, segmenting main users into basic groups, research of similar services, and creating a basic business model. MONY is a finance management application that analyzes your spending and keeps receipts and stamps organized, while personifying your finances as a small pet that collects rewards.
